Nov. 8 - Body Focus:

When and how can it be helpful to work “from the outside in” and how can we as actors strive to be fully present in our physical awareness? In this evening, we will look at two different approaches to the actor’s physical instrument through Laban Movement Analysis and Anne Bogart’s Viewpoints.

Nov. 15 - Text Focus:

How do we as actors breathe life and humanity into the words we speak on stage? This evening will use Classical text to explore how the artist can utilize structure and meaning to activate and bring emotional life to spoken language. We’ll include a brief introduction to Tina Packer’s “Dropping In” exercise and look at ways to use text as action whether you’re performing anything from Shakespeare to Mamet.

Nov. 22 - Integrated Instrument:

“Suit the action to the word, the word to the action. . .” The evening will use the work of Michael Chekov to explore integrating voice, body, and emotional action. We’ll also conclude the evening with a discussion of what it means to be an independent artist and how we can each strive to create and maintain our individual crafts.
